My Favorite Hiking Trails in Zion National Park

My Favorite Hiking Zion National Park in Utah was the very first National Park I ever visited. As much as I loved the outdoors, it was not until the first nightfall that I was absolutely captivated by the immense beauty of nature. Staring up into the night sky, a seemingly endless stream of stars was broken only by the silent silhouette of The Sentinal. As I laid down in my tent and looked up at theogram for the first time that I felt truly awake and aware of my new surroundings. Zion is one of those special places that just has to be visited

I remember making my first trip into the park way back when I was just a young boy. My family lived in Minnesota at the time and we frequently visited friends in St. Joe State Park. One night we stayed at a friend’s house and it was there that I first made my acquaintance withMother Nature

My Favorite Hiking Having never been out west before

I was pretty much awestruck by the whole experience. As I sat on the bank of a nearby stream trying to catch a glimpse of the night sky, I remember asking my friend how high the water was. He told me it was about forty feet. That’s how far I was able to see with the naked eye. It was a breathtaking view

I can still remember leaning against the bank of the stream trying to see more and more clearly the huge circle of night below. Eventually, I decided to get up and explore. I figured if I went foward I might be able to see something. I figured wrong. I went farther away from the bank and what I saw was even more breathtaking

There was a huge canyon of a river down below

THREE WEEKS prior to this. As I stood up in amazement, I somehow knew that this was the place that I had to go. It was the same feeling that I had when I read in the Bibles that someday I would be taken into the presence of God.

Not only did I finally make it, but it was such an incredible experience. I walked around like I had never been before, totally focused on the awesome sights around me. No wonder this place called Zion Canyon had such a grip on my heart. I felt like I was truly at home

My stay in Zion Canyon was one of the greatest moments of my life. If I could live like I did that long, I would always return to this wonderful world. The missionaries that visited the area told me that hundreds of converts were coming each year. They were all converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but we did not know it at that time
